B.I.G. Love's 1st Ambassador
In celebration of our 10th Anniversary, B.I.G. Love Cancer Care has added a new Ambassador Program.
A message from B.I.G. Love's First Ambassador - Leroy.
My name is Leroy Baker. I was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma (bone cancer) one year ago. I am from Jamaica and came to Texas Children's Hospital to receive treatment for my tumor which had been present for two years. When I got to Texas, I was so happy because I was in unbearable pain. After the biopsy, I learned I had a Osteosarcoma, a malignant bone cancer. I was very afraid. I never thought something like this would happen to me. While I was in the hospital, I was alone most of the time, but very soon, I met B.I.G. Love and Mrs. Vicky. We talked for a while. Each week, BIG Love comes to visit me and brings me my favorite chips. I have witnessed how happy BIG Love makes all the kids. And they give so many wonderful gifts and makes everyone smile. I don't have a lot of family here, but B.I.G. Love makes me feel at home. They are my family! It's so important to cancer kids and teens to know that people love us and care about us...it gives us more drive to fight! I have learned that love and happiness can overcome pain and sadness, and I have learned to adapt to anything that comes my way. After 19 rounds of chemotherapy, I am now cancer free and wanting to get my life back on track!
